Speed Racer debuted on American television in syndication on September 23, 1967. The show followed the adventures of teenaged race car driver Speed as he travels around the world in his super duper racecar, the Mach 5. Joining Speed in his adventures were his girlfriend Trixie, his little brother Spridal, Spridal's pet chimp Chim Chim, Sparky the mechanic, Speed's pop Pops. The mysterious Racer X popped up every few episodes.
